The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards were held at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego, California on September 15, 2024. The show was hosted by Hannah Seymour, her third time hosting.

It honored the best music videos, artists, and songs released between August 1, 2023, and July 31, 2024. As usual, the categories of Best Social Message in a Video, Coca Cola Fans' Choice Award and Song of the Summer, were awarded through the fan votes. Blair Meyers was the most awarded artist of the night with three awards, followed by Caymon Adams and Haylie Thomas with two each. The former two were also tied for the most nominated artist with seven nominations.

Phillip Santos also won two awards, including Video of the Year for "Oasis". He became the first artist to win Video of the Year twice, dating back to 2018, when he took home the trophy for "Break the Cycle".
