Alexander Harris Pearce (born December 19, 1985) is an American actor. He is perhaps best known for his award-winning roles in both The Brotherhood (2013) and Bobby (2015).
Early life
Alexander Harris Pearce was born on December 19, 1985, in Los Angeles with his parents, Richard and Helen, and his younger sister Marion. In 2015, Pearce revealed that he led a very active childhood and teen years, confessing, "We didn't stay inside when I was growing up; you were outside, enjoying the fresh air, and I continue to live that kind of live as much as I can."
Career
In May 2012, it was announced that Pearce was cast in the role of Matt Sykes in the Darklighter Productions war film, The Brotherhood, opposite Quinn James and Ethan Dashwood. The film saw its official release in October 2013; for his portrayal of Matt Sykes, Pearce earned a nomination and won in the category of Outstanding Supporting Performance by an Actor or Actress at the 2nd MovieNation Awards. For his next feature, Pearce appeared opposite Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman in the 2015 blockbuster, Bobby. For his part in the film, Pearce was once again nominated and won in the Outstanding Supporting Performance by an Actor or Actress. Pearce also hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live in 2015.
2016 will reportedly see the release of two addition Pearce films: The first being attestation., co-starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins, and Chronicles opposite Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. Pearce's next film, Ultimate Drug, opposite Elizabeth Lucey, is set for release on February 2, 2018.
Personal life
Sexuality and relationships
Pearce identities as homosexual. Having come out at the age of 14 to family and friends, Pearce told USA Today in 2015: "That was intense; I knew I was gay when I was young, and never saw myself with a girl. When I tried, it didn't look right to me." Pearce dated choreographer Dmitry Benson off and on until their split in 2013. In 2014, Pearce began dating actor, Jonathan Carlisle. In March 2017, Carlisle announced that he and Pearce had married in December 2015.
Undisclosed addiction struggles
In September 2013, People magazine and other media outlets began to report that Pearce was dealing with several "undisclosed" addictions, and that the actor had sought short-term treatment and was receiving on-going outpatient therapy. As of 2016, Pearce had yet to discuss the reports.
